Park Hee Soon’s agency responds to tax evasion allegations
Actor Park Hee Soon has been embroiled in tax evasion allegations, prompting his agency, NSE&M, to issue an official statement.
On February 17th KST, NSE&M stated:
“Park Hee Soon has diligently followed tax regulations under the guidance of tax advisors throughout his career. The recent tax assessment arose during procedural discussions with the tax authorities and is not directly related to any legal misconduct by the actor.”
The agency further explained:
“We have already filed an appeal during the preliminary review process. It is unfortunate that reports surfaced before a final decision was reached, causing confusion for both Park Hee Soon and the agency. The dispute stems from differences in interpretation between the tax authorities and our tax representatives, and we are in the process of resolving the matter.”
Additionally, they emphasized:
“Park Hee Soon is actively cooperating with the authorities and remains committed to fulfilling all tax obligations with transparency.”
According to reports from February 12th, the Seoul Regional Tax Office conducted a tax audit on Park Hee Soon last year, resulting in a ₩800 million (approx. $600,000 USD) tax penalty. The report also claimed that his family-run entertainment company, where Park serves as CEO and his wife, Park Ye Jin, is a registered executive, was also investigated for multi-billion won annual earnings.
With the appeal process still ongoing, Park Hee Soon’s agency has firmly denied any intentional wrongdoing and is working to resolve the issue.
