Paul Kim revealed why he became a newlywed without holding a wedding ceremony.

The singer appeared as a guest on the January 20 episode of SBS’s 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 – You Are My Destiny.'

During the show, host Kim Gu Ra introduced Paul Kim, saying, "You might be wondering why he’s here," and revealed that Paul Kim is a newlywed of nine months.

Paul Kim announced his marriage last April on his social media, revealing he married his non-celebrity girlfriend of nine years. Despite this, little was known about the union.

Discussing how he first met his wife, Paul Kim shared, “I was introduced to her by a friend who is a close musician buddy of mine.” When asked why he “secretly” got married, Paul clarified, “It wasn’t a secret. I think people don’t know because we didn’t have a wedding.”

When asked why they skipped holding a wedding, he explained, “After seeing friends who got married, I realized that wedding preparations aren’t easy. Since it was our marriage, I suggested to my wife that we focus on each other instead, and she readily agreed.”

Paul Kim added, “We even did our wedding photos by ourselves. We bought a wedding dress and took the pictures together.” Kim Gu Ra responded, “It’s impressive that your wife agreed to such a simple plan. Simplified plans like this are often for second marriages,” jokingly adding, “Your wife must be very practical to have understood your reasoning.”

When asked about his wife’s identity, Paul Kim said, “I’m cautious about exposing her face since she’s not a celebrity. Unless there’s a special reason, we don’t have plans to reveal her identity.” Fellow guests Lee Ji Hye and Kim Sook teased him, with Lee Ji Hye saying, “Don’t make promises,” and Kim Sook joking, “You seem like you’re testing the waters for future appearances on this show.”

Paul Kim humorously revealed, “My mother-in-law is a big fan of this program,” which made the panel laugh. Seo Jang Hoon quipped, “I think we’ll see you here again in a year,” prompting others to joke, “Why not bring your mother-in-law on the show first?”

Known for being reserved on variety shows, Paul Kim shared, “I joined Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 because I trust Kim Gu Ra. I’ve heard he’s intimidating, but during a past broadcast, he helped me speak up by creating the right timing for me.” Paul Kim also delivered a special rendition of his hit song "Every Day, Every Moment," altered to fit the program, while jokingly asking for more airtime, making everyone laugh.
