aespa member Winter has recently made headlines for her graceful response to malicious comments.
On January 8, Winter publicly responded to a series of harmful messages on the fan platform Weverse. One user repeatedly posted a cruel comment saying, "Why are you still alive?" accompanied by a cigarette emoji. In response, Winter wrote, "Smoking is harmful to your health♥," adding a heart emoji, and delivered the message kindly.
Another user posted an offensive insult, calling her a 'disgusting' name. Winter responded calmly, replying with 'right' and a dog emoji, referencing a playful comparison of her face to that of a puppy.
Finally, after news spread that Winter was replying to the hate comments, another user wrote, "Turn off your data and just sleep. Enjoy the rest of your life, idiot." Winter responded again with a message of support, saying, "Eat this ice cream, it will make you feel better♥" alongside an ice cream emoji.
Fans, upon seeing Winter's responses, expressed their concern, saying things like, "It's worrying that she’s getting random hate from people she doesn’t even know," and "Her kindness hurts more." Others advised her to stop responding, saying, "This is sadder because she sees these comments" and "Please don’t reply to them."
Some fans also raised their voices, stating, "Her kindness is so embarrassing for the haters," "Well-handled, but please don’t post hate comments just to get a reply," and "We should report these hateful comments." There were also calls for the company to better manage the well-being of its artists, with some fans actively reporting these comments.
