The first trial of a 30-year-old woman accused of posting malicious comments about singer IU is being held today (3rd).
According to the legal community, prosecutors have requested a 4-month prison sentence for A, a 30-year-old woman recently indicted on charges of insult.
The prosecution’s investigation revealed that A was brought to trial in April 2022 for writing four comments that disparaged IU’s outfit, singing skills, and speech.
In response, A claimed, “I merely used a simple symbol,” and added, “I suffer from a mental illness, which affects my writing skills. I hope to receive leniency.”
A’s attorney also argued, “My client expressed an opinion based on facts,” and continued, “While there may be unpleasant or insulting expressions, the crime of insult has not been established.”
Last month, IU’s agency issued a statement: “We have selected serious cases involving criminal elements, such as threats against the artist, spreading malicious false information, and distributing pornography, and have filed lawsuits. As a result, there are currently 180 defendants, and we are continuously filing additional lawsuits.”
