Jung Yoo Mi, known for shining in the romantic comedy genre, is set to charm audiences with a sweet romance this holiday season. On November 23rd, tvN’s new weekend drama, ‘Love Your Enemy,’ will premiere, marking another attempt to capture high viewership ratings.

The drama tells the story of two individuals, Seok Ji Won (played by Joo Ji Hoon) and Yoon Ji Won (played by Jung Yu Mi), who were born on the same day, share the same name, and come from families locked in a three-generation feud. After a teenage first love at 18, they reunite 18 years later, sparking a “war-like” romance.

The anticipation is heightened as this marks Jung Yoo Mi’s return to television after four years, earning her nickname as the “Queen of Romantic Comedy” and affectionately called “Yum Lovely.” It is also Joo Ji Hoon’s first romance drama in 18 years since his breakout role in ‘Princess Hours’ (2006).

At the production press conference held on November 18th in Seoul, Jung Yu Mi expressed her excitement, saying, “It’s been 10 years since I last worked on a romantic comedy drama. I’m thrilled to take on this genre again. I wanted to tell a simple and comforting story. It wasn’t an easy challenge after such a long time, but it seemed fun, so I decided to go for it.”

Jung Yoo Mi has recently appeared in popular variety shows like Na Young Suk’s ‘Jinny’s Kitchen,’ but this is her first romantic comedy project in a decade since ‘I Need Romance’ and ‘Discovery of Love.’

In the drama, Jung Yoo Mi and Joo Ji Hoon play characters who are constantly at odds, described as a “love-hate relationship.” She shared, “When I first received the offer, I was already impressed by Joo Ji Hoon’s characters in films. I felt excited to be working with him in a drama.”

She added, “I discovered for the first time how funny he is. Since we’re close in age, the set was really enjoyable. Although we use formal speech with each other, we became more comfortable over time, and even had playful banter during breaks. It felt very similar to the dynamic between our characters.”

Joo Ji Hoon commented, “It’s been a long time since I worked on a romantic comedy. This feels different from ‘Princess Hours.’ It’s grounded in everyday life, creating a light and enjoyable experience for viewers.”
