Actress Kim Sae Ron has been spotted on a movie set, marking her return to acting after approximately 2 years and 5 months since her drunk driving incident in May 2022.
On October 21st, sources confirmed that Kim Sae Ron was filming at Tapgol Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul. She was seen with long hair, wearing a white dress, and maintained a cheerful demeanor throughout the shoot. The actor playing opposite her is believed to be a newcomer.
According to film industry insiders, this project is a new low-budget music film directed by Shin Jae Ho, who made his directorial debut with 'My Love Ssagaji' starring Ha Ji Won in 2004. Shin also wrote the original film 'Ditto' and has directed several films since, including 'The Punisher', 'The Showdown', and 'Outlaw'.
While a representative confirmed Kim Sae Ron’s involvement in the project, they refrained from sharing further details due to the film's sensitive nature.
Kim Sae Ron gained fame as a child prodigy with her performances in films like 'The Man from Nowhere' and 'A Brand New Life'. Despite her promising career, she faced backlash after a drunk driving incident in 2022, where she crashed into guardrails, a tree, and a transformer in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, causing a temporary power outage. She was fined 20 million won after refusing a breathalyzer test and later testing with a blood alcohol level of approximately 0.2%, which is over the legal limit for license cancellation.
Earlier this year, Kim Sae Ron attempted to return to acting through the play 'Dongchimi', but withdrew due to negative public opinion. She was also reported to have been working part-time at a café in Seongsu-dong.
