Culinary Class War’ season 2 confirmed following global success

After its release on September 17th KST, ‘Culinary Class War’ has officially confirmed a second season. The first season became the first Korean variety show to top Netflix’s Global TOP 10 Non-English TV category for three consecutive weeks. Season 2 is expected to premiere in the second half of next year, bringing even fiercer culinary battles.

The production team from Season 1, including directors Kim Hak Min and Kim Eun Ji from Studio Slam, along with writer Mo Eun Seol, will return to helm the upgraded season. Kim Hak Min and Kim Eun Ji expressed their gratitude, stating, “Thanks to the viewers, we are able to proceed with season 2. We will work hard to meet the expectations and love shown to us.

‘Culinary Class War’ captured global audiences with its unprecedented cooking survival missions, combining the intensity of sports and the dynamic energy of martial arts stories. The fierce competition among dedicated chefs, coupled with unpredictable plot twists and dramatic scale, created explosive tension and excitement.

The show also garnered attention for the presence of Baek Jong Won, Korea’s top culinary mentor, and Ahn Sung Jae, the Michelin 3-star chef of Mosu Seoul, who embarked on a journey to discover the pinnacle of taste. Baek Jong Won’s broad culinary expertise and Ahn Sung Jae’s precise judgment, which paid attention to the cooking of vegetables, subtle seasoning, and the chef’s intentions, were praised for setting a new standard in cooking survival shows.

The show also made waves in Korea, dominating media discussions for four weeks after its release and topping the Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex TV rankings for three consecutive weeks. It became the first Netflix variety show to rank first in Gallup Korea’s September survey of Koreans’ favorite programs.

Netflix is now preparing to release more exciting variety shows following the success of ‘Culinary Class War.’ Upcoming releases include ‘Comedy Revenge,’ ‘Zombieverse: New Blood,’ and ‘Ultimate Rugby: Win or Die,’ all of which promise fresh, diverse entertainment and aim to continue the trend set by the K-cooking survival hit.

‘Culinary Class War’ season 1, where talented “underdog” chefs challenge Korea’s top “elite” chefs in a thrilling culinary battle of 100 chefs, is now available on Netflix.
