According to media outlet reports on September 19, TV personality Yoo Jae Suk was subject to an exhaustive tax audit by the Gangnam District Branch of South Korea's National Tax Service.
The audit took place between June and July of this year, and the auditors found no traces of tax evasion or unintended omission. The Gangnam District Branch of the National Tax Service is known for frequently subjecting high-income residents in the metropolitan area to exhaustive audits. Yoo Jae Suk was recently selected by the branch for an audit after purchasing a building and land in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, last year.
In response to the news, many Korean netizens commented, "Don't waste your time on Yoo Jae Suk and go catch those big wig politicians!", "It's not like the government of this corrupt country is ever gonna catch any real tax evaders", "Why did they waste like a month auditing Yoo Jae Suk when they could have gone after so many corrupt government dogs", "There are definitely more productive things the tax service could be doing right now", etc.
