On the August 28 episode of MBC’s ‘Radio Star,’ Yewon brought up the infamous incident from nine years ago involving actress Lee Tae Im. The episode featured guests Shin Gye Sook, Kang Joo Eun, Yewon, and Haewon from NMIXX.
During the show, Yewon reflected on the incident that has haunted her for years. She mentioned that the issue recently resurfaced in the media, and she pondered whether she should address it or let it go. “I don’t usually bring it up myself. Recently, there was an article about it, and it suggested that people should stop mentioning it. I can’t sternly tell people not to talk about it on broadcasts, but I’ve wondered if I should ask them to stop,” she said.
Kim Gu Ra offered some advice, saying, “Over time, it will naturally fade away.” He also noted that Yewon seemed overly cautious about the issue, suggesting that she might benefit from letting it go.
Yewon admitted, “I feel like I can’t speak freely because of it. Surprisingly, people still use that phrase a lot.” Yoo Se Yoon added that the phrase had become a “meme masterpiece” in certain circles. Yewon shared, “I don’t want to use it for humor or on broadcasts, but it’s unavoidable, so I just laugh it off.”
She also mentioned that she feels the need to create new things to help move past the incident. Yewon revealed that she has received numerous commercial offers due to the catchy phrase, but she remains cautious. “It’s a good catchphrase for ads, but I have my own standards. I don’t think it’s right for me to use that phrase on broadcasts,” she said, emphasizing her personal boundaries.
