On August 29, Na Young Suk PD appeared as a guest on a YouTube live broadcast hosted by YouTuber/webtoon author Calm Down Man.
While discussing the return of the beloved variety program 'Three Meals a Day', Na PD revealed, "This season is a special 10th anniversary season. Yesterday, Son Ho Joon joined me on one of my live broadcasts, and we gave out some spoilers. This special season is supposed to be more chill. Sometimes, the cast might not cook all 3 meals for the day, and they might also go visit other places. It's more casual."
Hearing this, Calm Down Man mentioned, "It's amazing that your programs are all steady sellers." However, Na Young Suk PD revealed, "Actually, this year, our company is on the defensive. Frankly, this year was supposed to be a good year for us, financially."
The PD continued, "The company was running low on funds, so I had to go with programs that would ensure profits. Fortunately, it had been a while since we did 'Jinny's Kitchen' and 'Three Meals a Day', so I was able to go with those."
Explaining about his company's unexpected financial struggles, Na PD said, "At the beginning of the year, a company calculates a certain amount in operating profit that should be reached for that year, to ensure the employees' salaries and other funds. But at the beginning of this year, our company's president said to me that I didn't have to worry about making a big profit through variety shows. This year, the company had another project that was supposed guarantee 60~70% of the annual operating profit. But due to unforeseen circumstances, the release of that project was delayed. Fortunately, I had already begun preparing for 'Jinny's Kitchen 2', so we were able to avoid losses."
It's believed that the delayed project mentioned by Na Young Suk PD is the tvN drama 'Wise Resident Life' (also known as 'Resident Playbook'), a spin-off to the 'Hospital Playlist' series. The drama, which was originally scheduled for release in May of 2024, has postponed its release until 2025 as a result of the ongoing walk outs by South Korean medical professionals.
