For the first time ever, K-pop style lightsticks will be used to cheer at the global celebration of the Olympics. HYBE announced on July 9 KST that they will provide specially designed 'Team Korea Lightsticks' to support the South Korean national team at the 2024 Paris Olympics through the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC).
Earlier in March, HYBE signed an MOU with the KSOC to lead the cheering culture for the Olympics. As part of this partnership, HYBE will supply around 5,000 lightsticks, collaborate on HYBE artist cheering content, provide HYBE Labels artist content at the 'Korea House' in Paris, and produce official Team Korea merchandise.
HYBE's 'Team Korea Lightsticks' will enhance the cheering atmosphere in Paris. Designed and developed by HYBE, the lightsticks come in two versions: a standard 'TEAM KOREA OFFICIAL LIGHT STICK' for the public and a 'TEAM KOREA OFFICIAL DIGITAL FLAG' for the athletes. The design is inspired by the Olympic torch, featuring the Team Korea logo and a pattern that simulates a stadium crowd, creating a striking visual effect when illuminated.
HYBE will distribute 500 lightsticks for the national team and about 4,500 standard lightsticks at the Korea House in Paris. On July 27, a cheering event will be held in the Korea House garden, where family members of the athletes and international dignitaries will watch and cheer for the South Korean team using these lightsticks.
HYBE is also involving its artists in the cheering efforts. SEVENTEEN's unit BSS will participate in the 'Team Korea Cheering Challenge,' energizing the support for the national team with their hit song "Fighting." The challenge will kick off with a video released on the KSOC’s social media channels on July 10 KST.
