'Pachinko' starring Yoon Yeo Jung, Kim Min Ha, and Lee Min Ho will return for season 2 this summer.
Season 2 of 'Pachinko' will premiere on August 23, Apple TV+ announced on Friday.
'Pachinko' is a story of forbidden love that travels back and forth between Korea, Japan, and the United States in an unforgettable chronicle of war and peace, love and separation, triumph and judgment. Season 1 of 'Pachinko,' which tells the epic story of four generations of a Korean immigrant family from Japanese colonial rule to the 1980s, has been recognized with awards from around the world, including Best Foreign Language Series at the Critics Choice Awards, Breakthrough Series over 40 Minutes at the Gotham Awards, and Best Ensemble Cast at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Season 2 will feature an expanded storyline. Season 1 explored the lives of the main characters, Sunja (Kim Min Ha and Yoon Yeo Jung), as they struggle to protect their family in the midst of turbulent times, beginning with their meeting with Hansu (Lee Min Ho), a new broker in Yeongdo, Busan, in the early 1900s.
In Season 2, the story of Sunja and her family, who are building a strong foundation for their lives as mothers of two children, will once again touch audiences around the world.
Season 2 of 'Pachinko' will consist of eight episodes, with the first episode premiering on Friday, August 23, and one episode released every week until October 11 on Apple TV+.
