At the 'Innovate Korea 2024' event held at the Daejeon Yuseong KAIST Sports Complex on June 5 KST, KAIST bestowed an appointment certificate upon Big Bang's G-Dragon. His term will last from June 4 of this year to June 2026, spanning two years. This appointment aims to integrate the latest scientific technologies developed by KAIST into K-content and cultural industries to enhance the global competitiveness of Korean culture.

Furthermore, G-Dragon has been appointed as a Global Ambassador for KAIST, where he will contribute to the university's international promotion efforts.

Expressing his gratitude, G-Dragon remarked, "It is an honor to be appointed as a visiting professor at KAIST, known for producing numerous scientific geniuses. I anticipate a great synergy between the expertise of top-notch scientists and my entertainment background, hoping it will lead to significant breakthroughs, akin to the 'Big Bang'." He also highlighted the growing trend of musicians utilizing artificial intelligence in their work, expressing his desire to leverage advanced technology, such as the AI avatar developed in collaboration with Galaxy Corporation and KAIST, to engage more closely with fans worldwide.

KAIST President Lee Kwang Hyung commented, "Considering KAIST's longstanding reputation for exploring new frontiers and pushing the boundaries of knowledge, Professor Kwon shares KAIST's DNA as a leader and pioneer in the cultural and arts sector." He further emphasized the potential of G-Dragon's activities to contribute to the global dissemination and growth of K-culture through the application of KAIST's scientific technologies, as well as the value of sharing Professor G-Dragon's experiences and spirit as a trendsetter on the world stage with KAIST members aspiring to be a first-rate university.

G-Dragon is scheduled to deliver leadership lectures for undergraduate and graduate students, host cultural events to engage with KAIST members, and provide artistic experiences necessary for creative and interdisciplinary growth. Additionally, the establishment of the KAIST-Galaxy Corporation EnterTech Research Center within the Mechanical Engineering Department will facilitate research on digital twin technology for Hallyu artists, the convergence of science and technology with K-culture, and the development of differentiated artist avatars utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as volumetric capture, motion capture, and haptics.
