BTS's RM and V (Kim Taehyung) showcased their prominence in the music industry by being inducted into Billboard's R&B and Hip-Hop Hall of Fame for the year.
On September 9, Billboard celebrated this year's rap/hip-hop power players by highlighting artists who secured at least one No. 1 spot on Billboard's R&B, rap songs, or albums charts between August 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024.
The post was captioned, "Shout out to the 2024 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop HONOR ROLL."
Both Taehyung and RM were the only Asian artists listed alongside iconic and contemporary figures representing the R&B and hip-hop world, such as Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Drake, Earth, Wind & Fire, Eminem, H.E.R., Jack Harlow, Kanye West (Ye), SZA, The Weeknd, Michael Jackson, and Usher.
In September last year, Taehyung released his solo album Layover, a pop-R&B album infused with jazz and soul. Layover was selected by prominent international music magazines as one of the best albums of 2023.
This year, Taehyung also topped the Billboard "R&B Digital Song Sales" chart on January 13 with his feature on "Wherever U R," becoming the first K-pop male artist to enter the Billboard "Hot R&B Songs" chart.
RM also achieved critical acclaim with his recent album Right Place, Wrong Person, which was listed as one of the Best Albums of 2024 by prominent media outlets, including Billboard, Rolling Stone, AP, and NME.
The album also debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums Chart upon its release.
Congratulations to both Taehyung and RM!
