More former employees are coming forward with claims of mistreatment by famous TV personality and dog trainer Kang Hyung Wook.
According to a JTBC report on May 21, a former employee, 'A,' exposed that Kang Hyung Wook had installed surveillance cameras in the company to monitor employees.
'A' revealed that while Kang Hyung Wook was on a business trip to Japan, technicians from a CCTV company visited the office for repairs. During this visit, surveillance cameras intended for monitoring employees rather than for security were installed throughout the premises. 'A' also added that there was no separate notification or consent process before the installation of the CCTV cameras.
'A' even claimed that CCTV cameras were installed in the dressing room where some female employees changed clothes, which they discovered later.
Recalling the situation at the time, 'A' said, "I said, 'surveillance cameras are...not even installed in the front door areas and it's just being used to monitor the employees... This is illegal.' Then, the CEO's wife (Kang Hyung Wook's wife) said with a serious expression, 'Why are you talking about the law? If we talk about the law, I could sue all of you for neglecting your duties. It's not even appropriate for family members to talk about the law.'"
The former employee also mentioned that Kang Hyung Wook actually pointed out the work attitude of employees while watching the CCTV footage, saying, "He watched the surveillance camera and said, 'Don't sit on the chairs like you're laying down while working.' I thought, 'How much is he... watching me.'"
Meanwhile, Kang Hyung Wook, CEO of Bodeum Company, found himself embroiled in controversy over the alleged mistreatment of his employees. Kang Hyung Wook has not yet commented on various suspicions raised by former employees.
