Believe it or not, it's been 17 years since Girls' Generation, also known as SNSD, made their debut in 2007. As an iconic second-generation girl group under SM Entertainment, they have firmly established their legacy within K-pop, earning numerous accolades and achieving many milestones along the way. Throughout the years, Girls' Generation has seen various changes, including members branching out into individual careers, signing with different agencies, and notably, Jessica's departure from the group in 2014.
However, despite these transitions, some members remain loyal to their original agency. Here are the members of the group who continue their journey under SM Entertainment.
TAEYEON
Taeyeon, the leader of SNSD, is one of the most successful solo artists in all of K-pop, releasing hits like “I" and “INVU,” among others. Remaining an integral part of SM Entertainment, Taeyeon expanded her artistic horizons by debuting as a member of GOT the beat, the female supergroup of the agency.
HYOYEON
Hyoyeon has continued her journey with SM Entertainment, showcasing her multifaceted talents as a singer-songwriter, rapper, and DJ. She performs as HYO. In 2022, she and Taeyeon debuted as members of GOT the Beat.
YURI
Yuri has remained under SM Entertainment's management as a singer and an actress, garnering numerous accolades along the way. Some of her notable dramas include “Bossam: Steal the Fate,” “Good Job,” “The Sound of Your Heart: Rebbot,” and “Defendant.”
YOONA
With hit dramas like “King the Land,” “The K2,” and her solo album “A Walk to Remember,” YoonA is leading her successful acting career under SM Entertainment. On January 4, 2024, SM announced the renewal of YoonA's exclusive contract with the agency for the third consecutive time.
While some members have left SM Entertainment to explore new opportunities or pursue different paths, these four members of Girls’ Generation have chosen to remain with their OG agency.
I'm just sad that Sunny ended up leaving SM due to all that brouhaha between Lee Soo Man and all the assholes now in charge of SM.
