Recently, employees of SM Entertainment voiced their concerns on an anonymous online community, shedding light on the company's alleged mismanagement. This mismanagement has reportedly prompted a significant number of employees to resign.
On April 10, an SM employee created a post titled, 'So (SM) is throwing away their employees and their artists,' on the popular anonymous employee online community called 'Blind.' Blind is an app where people can talk about their jobs anonymously. Users are verified via their work email. The poster alleged that the new executives managing the company have not done a proper job operating the label and exposed the chaos that is occurring within.
The poster wrote, "While the competitor company (HYBE) sets up employee hospitals in their company, (SM) pretends to protect artists. They created this thing called 'KWANGYA119' that doesn't make sense, but all they say is, 'We relayed this to the relevant department.' That department isn't worth its name, it's just like an honorary firefighter title."
The employee continued, "I knew from a long time ago, after the Ssaem (Lee Soo Man) left, some glasses-wearing people, who have no idea what's going on, came in. They started threatening the employees by saying they would cut their incentives if they reported the sales late."
This employee continued to talk about the artists who have been suffering from Sasaeng fans yet the agency did not do anything to address it. They explained, "An (idol group) member talked about their heartbreaking feelings at an anniversary live broadcast, another member received a crazy message from a Sasaeng saying are they mentally ill, and the director who made the company what it is today has been receiving unspeakable hate comments for several years, so she took down all her social media, declaring her retirement. All of this has happened over the past few days, and now even ordinary employees are being doxxed on social and are getting sworn at. Yet, how does this company not deal with any of this?"
The employee continued, "How long has it been since the salary notice period has passed? And they still haven't let us know about our salary. And we still have to work? Seriously, if you're going to treat your employees like crap, at least protect the artists, please. Who do you want to lose more. Do something. Even I'm worried about the director (BoA)."
Another employee also posted on Blind and wrote, "How many resigned?" and explained, "There's rumors that about 70? Or 80 employees quit this month. How many people resigned so far? Does anyone know?" Below the post, other Blind community users commented, "7 lolol 80 people? lolol that's crazy."
A third employee also complained, "Do they not know? Or are they pretending not to know?" This employee complained, "The company is being messed up by a few people and the CEO is just staying still? Under closed-room management, press, divide, hide...Employee reviews are only a small part of the story. This isn't only on Blind, it's actually in chaos!!"
A fourth employee accused the new executive officers of being industry spies due to their poor management of the company, possibly trying to sabotage SM from within. They wrote, "Aren't they industry spies at this point? Are they from our competitor company trying to sabotage the label? They need to be kicked out and we need to bring back Sunsaengnim (Lee Soo Man) for real. What were they thinking to put these people in that position? To... the glasses-wearing people and their minions."
Other employees commented, "Yeah they called their friends, and that friend called another friend who is a r****d, and that r****d called another friend who is also a r***d, and they called another, and another, infinite repeat," "The company isn't going to change so each to their own," "They're not going to be interested even if the company is in chaos or is on fire," and more.
These Blind posts were shared in another popular online community called TheQoo where other netizens were able to share their thoughts. They commented, "Wow, 70-80 people resigning? That's too much," "I don't know about the company now, but they never filed lawsuits even when Lee Soo Man was there," "I think Lucas' solo debut was weird. I guess the company situation is not good," "Internally they are in chaos but looks like the company is functioning from the outside," "We'll know if 80 employees really resigned recently since there will be job postings in job sites then," "It's a big problem if 80 employees did resign," and "Yeah, KWANGYA119 is useless."
You know... people have been saying this from the start. That, under those nephew idiots, SM is doomed. And it's true... SM is doomed. But company stans and LSM haters didn't wanna hear it 🤷🏻♂️
