There are rumors that 'The Seasons - Lee Hyori's Red Carpet' is facing possible cancellation.
According to a March 7 report by Sports Chosun, KBS2's late-night music talk show 'The Seasons - Lee Hyori's Red Carpet is said to be under discussion for a possible cancellation, with the final recording taking place this month.
KBS spoke to News1 and stated, "It's hard to give a definite answer as of this moment because it's difficult to confirm with the producers as well."
Sports Chosun reported that the last recording for the show will take place on March 26 and will conclude the show with the last episode. According to the broadcasting industry insiders, the final decision regarding the future of 'The Seasons - Lee Hyori's Red Carpet' will be finalized on March 11.
'The Seasons' is a late-night talk show that premiered after 'Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook,' which ended in 2022 after years of broadcasting.
'The Seasons' consisted of four seasons, where different musicians took on the role of MC for each season. In June 2023, Jay Park kicked off the first season, followed by vocalist Choi Jung Hoon from Jannabi, who hosted the show for season 2. Sibling duo AKMU led the show for season 3.
Starting on January 5, 2024, Lee Hyori took on the role of the main MC for season 4 and garnered much attention in that this was the first time she hosted a music show alone. Back in 2012, she hosted the show 'Jung Jae Hyung & Lee Hyori's You and I' with musician Jung Jae Hyung.
As of now, 'Lee Hyori's Red Carpet' has aired a total of 9 episodes, starting with a viewer rating of 1.9% for the first episode with BLACKPINK's Jennie and maintained ratings in the 1% range. The episode aired on January 26 saw a decline to 0.8% in the viewer rating. Broadcasting officials have expressed the need to consider factors such as the program's time slot on Friday nights at 10 PM and the overall decrease in overall TV viewership.
