YG Entertainment is stepping up its efforts to discover and nurture new talent to follow in the footsteps of popular group BLACKPINK. Anticipation is high for who will be the next generation leaders of YG Entertainment.
On the 13th, YG Entertainment announced that it will hold a global public audition in collaboration with Avex, a Japanese entertainment company. This joint audition, which comes after 8 years, is open to applicants regardless of gender or nationality.
Starting from Sapporo, YG Entertainment will host large-scale auditions in seven major cities in Japan including Nagoya, Fukuoka, Osaka, Tokyo, Sendai, and Okinawa, spanning a total of 10 sessions, to scout for talent.
BIGBANG, BLACKPINK, WINNER, iKON, TREASURE, and other artists under YG Entertainment boast solid popularity and influence not only in South Korea but also internationally. With their continued success in Japan, the emergence of the next global K-pop artist under YG is eagerly anticipated.
Furthermore, YG Entertainment is actively supporting the growth and advancement of BABYMONSTER. Debuting in November last year, the group, led by former YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk as the producer, garnered significant attention as YG's new girl group following BLACKPINK. BABYMONSTER has been maintaining active promotions without hiatus since their debut, and the imminent return of key member Ah Yeon is raising further expectations.
Despite not appearing on domestic music shows, BABYMONSTER continues to gain popularity through various indicators overseas and consistently maintains domestic interest as the junior group of BLACKPINK. With their official debut scheduled for April, their future activities are highly anticipated.
YG Entertainment has been working tirelessly from last year until now to birth their new flagship group. With various activities from auditions to nurturing rookies, all eyes are on what contributions they will make to the music industry in 2024.
Open to all nationalities but taking place in Japan. Can't imagine you'll find many non-Japanese audition, even if it means flying into Japan. If they're touring 7 cities within Japan, they're looking for Japanese. We'll see if they expand to Korea or elsewhere after, but I doubt it.
