IU recently unveiled a teaser for the music video of a track from her upcoming mini-album, featuring a high-profile collaboration.
On February 13, IU's agency, EDAM Entertainment, uploaded the teaser video for "Shh..," a track from IU's 6th mini-album, 'The Winning.'
The teaser begins with bold red letters spelling out "SHH.." against a crimson backdrop. IU, sporting short black hair, is captured gazing intently, her expression hinting at anticipation. Next, we see Tang Wei leaning on a car's steering wheel, peering thoughtfully through the window. The scene shifts to black and white as the duo is shown lifting a wooden floorboard in what appears to be an indoor setting, accompanied by the caption "THERE WAS A SONG." The teaser concludes with IU's piercing gaze into the camera, delivering the cryptic line, "That name is Shh," leaving viewers intrigued.
Despite its brevity, the teaser exudes a sense of sophistication and allure, encapsulating the essence of the characters and fleeting moments. The intense chemistry between the two protagonists is palpable and captivating. Tang Wei's inclusion, an acclaimed actress known for her stellar performances and accolades such as the Best Actress award at the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2022 and the Best Acting Award at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2023 for the film "Decision to Leave," coupled with her global prominence, adds another layer of excitement to the video. Notably, Tang Wei's appearance in a domestic Korean music video marks a first, sparking curiosity about the dynamic she will bring.
Reflecting on her involvement, Tang Wei, speaking through IU's agency, expressed her admiration for IU as an artist, highlighting IU's talent, personality, and music. Tang Wei explained, "The decision to appear (in the music video) is simple. I admire her as an artist. Just like others, I admire IU's talent, personality, and songs. This is the first time I am appearing in a music video and I was happy to work with IU and learned a lot during the filming."
The teaser also piqued interest with its portrayal of the characters portrayed by the two artists. Tang Wei's post-production comments hinted at an intriguing dynamic between IU and herself, further fueling anticipation for the narrative they will unfold.
"Shh..," the featured track, garnered attention with news of guest appearances by Joe Won Sun, a member of the band Roller Coaster and a talented singer-songwriter, and HYEIN from NewJeans. Additionally, speculation arose surrounding the involvement of a mystery narrator. The creative team behind the music video, including director Hwang Soo Ah and writer Kim Ji Hye, renowned for their collaborations on IU's previous music videos, further heightened expectations for this production.
IU's highly anticipated mini-album, 'The Winning,' is set for release on February 20 at 6 PM through major online music platforms, while the full version of the "Shh.." music video will premiere on February 23 at midnight.
