On February 19, HYBE/SOURCE MUSIC's girl group, LE SSERAFIM, held a media showcase for their 3rd mini-album 'EASY' ahead of its release. This marks their new album after nine months since the release of their first full-length album 'UNFORGIVEN.'
After the members posed for the photo session, they greeted the members of the press and relayed their thoughts and feelings on this comeback.
"We feel both nervous and excited to present 'EASY' since it's our first album dropping this year. I believe we were able to show a different side of LE SSERAFIM with 'Perfect Night,'" said Yunjin. "This time we're back with another 'wow' factor and the world will be like, 'LE SSERAFIM can pull off even this kind of genre.'" The group's leader Chaewon then expressed how grateful they are for the love and support they received last year, adding, "We worked very hard on our 3rd mini-album to show a completely new side of LE SSERAFIM."
Kazuha added that this album is something that they've never tried before. "Compared to our previous album that focused on our confidence, 'EASY' delves into our innermost thoughts and emotions. I feel like this album really embodies our honest and personal stories." "I also love to blow everybody's minds away with this album. I'm confident that it's going to be a new beginning for LE SSERAFIM," said the group's 'maknae,' Eunchae.
Sakura hopes for the audience to see how much they've grown as musicians through this new release. "When you look at the lyrics of 'EASY,' It's actually very LE SSERAFIM," she said.
With their previous albums talking about them being fearless, this time, the girls want to be open, mainly talking about fears and struggles. "It's all about our determination to make everything look easy when nothing actually is," said Chaewon. "This album is about anxieties and vulnerabilities... LE SSERAFIM's artistic spectrum knows no limits."
While 'UNFORGIVEN' and their latest English single, "Perfect Night," have been met with tremendous love and success, Kazuha confessed to experiencing anxiety and pressure to constantly present a new side of herself with each comeback. Despite these, she acknowledges the hard work and effort that went into their achievements so far. "I think that showing our innermost selves is actually cool."
On their first impression of "EASY," Chaewon knew the moment she first heard it, the track "slays." While noting how catchy their previous title tracks are, Kazuha highlighted "EASY"'s unique ability to capture her attention immediately. Yunjin revealed that the first time they heard it was when they were on their first solo tour. "I really loved the song at my first listen. I listen to it everywhere. In the car, in the shower..." she said, adding that she'd like for it to make it to the Billboard Hot 100.
While LE SSERAFIM's previous choreographies are recognized for their high energy, Sakura considers the "EASY" dance to be the trickiest yet. "It's physically demanding out of all songs we've done so far," Eunchae added.
During the media Q&A, Chaewon expressed LE SSERAFIM's excitement about performing at Coachella for the first time, set to take place later this April. She described it as an excellent opportunity to expand their global reach and showcase their talents to a broader audience. "We are so fortunate to be able to perform at Coachella. We were blown away by BLACKPINK's stage in the past. It really doesn't hit me yet."
One reporter asked the girls how they're feeling about promoting at the same time with artists like IU and TWICE, Kazuha said that they're very lucky to be sharing schedules with a lot of amazing artists. She added, "Numbers are important, but what is more important for us is to present the message we want to deliver to our fans and listeners."
Meanwhile, 'EASY' is LE SSERAFIM's 3rd mini-album, which consists of 5 new songs: "Good Bones," "EASY," "Swan Song," "Smart," and "We got so much." Particularly, members Chaewon, Sakura, Kazuha, and Yunjin took part in penning "Swan Song," with Yunjin participating in its creation along with "Smart" and "We got so much."
The entire album is good and indeed gives a real fresh take on the group. Smart is the best song here imho, but Easy is for sure a grower.
