Hyolyn has posted an apology after using a racial slur.
Controversy arose after the SISTAR19 member posted an Instagram story of herself singing along to a Doja Cat song and saying the N-word, a racial slur used against black people. Many international netizens took issue with the incident, and Hyolyn posted an official apology on X.
Hyolyn wrote:
"Hello everyone, this is HYOLYN.
Yesterday, while singing along to a song that was playing in the background, I carelessly uttered a charged word with significant cultural and historical implications. I am deeply regretful and heartbroken to have hurt so many of you by my ignorance. I am sincerely sorry.
Please know that I love you all very much, and I thank you for keeping me accountable for my actions. I hope you will be there in my journey to educate myself more on cultures beyond my own, to grow not only as an artist, but as a person.
My advice is always the same. Do not buy, stream, listen, play or sing any song with that word in its lyrics. Don't support writers and artists who would put that nasty word in their song and then tell most of the world they cannot enjoy the song the way they wrote it. Simply hit them in the pocketbook.

Boo hoo, she was singing along with a song. Get over it or don’t use it in your song. People will naturally follow the song without even thinking about it. People are just looking for something to be offended over.
