Two tracks by South Korean hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo — composed of Gaeko and Choiza — are going viral on social media platforms, particularly TikTok.
Both “Smoke” and “AEAO” have gone viral this year, spinning off dance covers by K-pop’s powerhouse names like V and Jungkook of BTS, Jay Park, EXO, SEVENTEEN, ITZY, TXT, ATEEZ, IVE, and many more.
Their 2014 critically acclaimed song, "AEAO," became viral and a TikTok 'Top 10 Song of Summer' from Korea, doing so nearly a decade after its release. While their recently released 'Street Woman Fighter 2' single featuring rapper Lee Young Ji, "Smoke" debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 199 last September, the duo's first appearance on the chart.
"Smoke" and "AEAO" currently have 16 million and 32 million streams on Spotify, respectively, with "AEAO" being Dynamic Duo's most popular track to date.
The resurgence of "AEAO" honors the culture's long tradition of sampling with Dynamic Duo’s lyricism spotlighted alongside a production that interpolates "Yesterday (Was So Nice Today)" by '70s funk-rock band Aquarian Dream according to a press release.
Dynamic Duo looks to take the global interest given to them thanks to the power of social media and new generations of stars to not only spread more of their music but honor hip-hop in this special year.
Love both songs. Glad Dynamic Duo are finally getting their flowers internationally
