Big Hit Music has issued a statement of firm denial to the latest allegations of plagiarism raised against BTS member Jungkook's solo single, "Seven".
A representative of Big Hit Music commented on August 22 KST, "The claims of copyright infringement against Jungkook's 'Seven' are not true. 'Seven' was created through a collaboration of five overseas composers. It is a creative product entirely unrelated to a song released 24 years ago in South Korea, as was the claim. The label would like to emphasize that the one-sided claims do not correspond with any standards of determining copyright infringement, such as substantial similarities or originality."
Earlier on this day, it was reported that producer Yang Joon Young of Fin.K.L's "Time of Mask" had requested an evaluation over suspected similarities between the Fin.K.L song and Jungkook's "Seven". The composer claimed that the two songs shared a very similar "scale sequence".
I don’t hear any similarities between the two songs, but the Spice Girls could sue Fin.K.L because it sounds very close to “Say You’ll Be There”. Same chord progressions, same instrumental sounds, same tempo, even similar rhythms and melody.
