YG Entertainment has spoken up with an updated position to earlier rumors surrounding Big Bang's G-Dragon.
While on June 5 KST, YG Entertainment briefly commented that the absence of G-Dragon's name from the agency's artist roster was due to a "system error", new media outlet reports on June 6 KST are confirming that the Big Bang member's exclusive contract with YG is now expired.
According to a representative of YGE, "It's true that G-Dragon's exclusive contract has expired. We are currently discussion various options including partial contracts for his activities in areas such as advertisements. Should the artist wish to resume his promotions as a musician in the near future, we plan to negotiate a new contract with him and offer him the agency's full support."
Based on the rep's statement, it seems that YG Entertainment does not believe G-Dragon will "leave" his debut agency to seek out opportunities elsewhere; rather, the matter of his exclusive contract renewal remains dependent on the artist's plans to resume music activities.
He's big enough to open his own agency, he should do that a collect the bigger size of the pot.
