One AfreecaTV streamer presumed to be involved in the dispute with the late BJ Imvely is being criticized for showing a lack of remorse after causing Imvely to attempt suicide on a live stream.
In a YouTube live broadcast on June 15, Gam Seong Yeoul stated, "I'll be honest, I'm not sorry. What did I do so wrong?" mentioning the argument she had with Imvely during a drinking session with other streamers the day Imvely attempted suicide.
She explained, "She did that because she couldn't overcome her own temper. Who are you asking to take responsibility? I just followed the rules. We set the rule that we would deduct 300,000 KRW (233.77 USD) if we cry. But she (Imvely) kept bringing down the mood by crying and so I told her to cry facing the wall. She's the one who cursed first."
Gam Seong Yeoul added, "It's unfortunate and regrettable that something like that happened after our broadcast, but why should all broadcasts revolve around her? There were a few of us gathered to make money, and 2,000 to 3,000 people were watching the broadcast...To be honest, I'm not sorry."
On June 11, BJ Imvely, along with fellow streamers, including God Sungeun and Gam Seong Yeoul, had a joint drinking broadcast. While enjoying a karaoke and drinking session, BJ Imvely got into a disagreement with Gam Seong Yeoul and returned home highly intoxicated.
As soon as she arrived home, BJ Imvely started a live stream. During the broadcast, she expressed her dissatisfaction with a specific streamer. Unexpectedly, BJ Imvely then shifted gears and began offering apologies while also disclosing the details of her will to her audience.
In her will, she requested her ex-husband to take care of their children. Following this, BJ Imvely went off-camera, and the stream ended 20 minutes later when 119 paramedics entered her residence.
Imvely suffered two cardiac arrests and was reliant on an oxygen respirator to breathe. Unfortunately, she passed away at the age of 37 on June 19.
