Three days have elapsed since the tragic passing of singer Choi Sung Bong, yet the somber occasion of his funeral remains pending.

According to a trusted aide close to the late Choi Sung Bong, his body currently rests in a temporary holding facility at a designated hospital following a thorough autopsy conducted by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation (NFS). 

Subsequent to the autopsy, the body was transferred to the hospital, awaiting the arrival of bereaved family members for handover. Regrettably, no family members have come forward, leading to the classification of Choi Sung Bong as an individual without immediate relatives.

During his appearance on the television show 'Korea's Got Talent' in 2011, Choi Sung Bong disclosed his painful past, revealing that he was abandoned by his biological parents at the tender age of three and subsequently placed in an orphanage.

Speaking to Star News, the aforementioned aide remarked, "Sung Bong has no surviving family members, rendering the immediate claim of his remains a complex matter." He further added, "As his acquaintance, I have taken it upon myself to organize a funeral service in place of his family. The exact schedule for the funeral will be released next week."

Additionally, Choi Sung Bong's acquaintance intends to establish a memorial space where fans can pay their respects. The aide shared, "Although the city provides a communal funeral service at no cost for individuals without relatives, I aim to create a separate space to honor Choi Sung Bong, where his devoted fans can gather for a day of remembrance. Despite the public's disapproving sentiment, I believe those who genuinely wish to express their condolences will attend."

Meanwhile, the police report that Choi Sung Bong was discovered deceased in his residence in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at 9:41 AM on June 20. The police, based on the initial observations at the scene and the results of the autopsy, have ruled out any suspicion of foul play.

On the same day, Choi Sung left a final message to his YouTube channel community, expressing his sorrow. He shared, "The reason I am writing this is to send a letter to my fans for the last time in my life. If you're able to see this, it means I am already dead. I sincerely apologize to those who have suffered due to my foolishness. I'm sorry. I repaid back all the donations that were given to me over the past two years. Now, I want to repay my sins with my life."

Following the publication of the YouTube post, a concerned citizen in Busan promptly alerted the authorities, leading the police and fire departments to respond. They arrived at the singer's residence at 9:17 AM that day and discovered the singer had passed away.

Choi Sung Bong rose to fame with his noteworthy appearance on 'Korea's Got Talent,' where he secured second place, earning widespread recognition. His early life was marked by residing in an orphanage from the age of three, and he endured a challenging existence growing up, earning him the moniker of "Korea's Paul Potts."

In the subsequent years, Choi Sung Bong pursued various endeavors, including the release of his album 'Little Boy' in 2014 and hosting a charity concert in Chicago, USA, the following year. 

Fundraising campaigns were organized to support his efforts. However, in 2021, doubts emerged regarding the veracity of Choi Sung Bong's battle with cancer, prompting him to acknowledge the allegations and issue an apology as the controversy escalated.
