The approach taken by Korean celebrities in handling dating rumors is changing.
On June 20, multiple media outlets circulated rumors suggesting that Park Seo Joon is romantically involved with singer and YouTuber Xooos. Reports indicate that the two individuals have introduced each other to their respective acquaintances and have even merged their friend groups.
In response, Park Seo Joon's agency, Awesome ENT, stated, "It's hard to confirm information about the actor's personal life."
Nevertheless, numerous photographs have surfaced, capturing Park Seo Joon and Xooos spending time together abroad, often accompanied by a group of acquaintances.
Addressing the recent dating rumors, Park Seo Joon briefly commented on the matter during a press conference for 'Concrete Utopia,' attracting significant attention. He stated, "While I'm grateful for the attention of the public, I do feel discomfort about revealing my private life. I'm afraid it is difficult for me to comment on this matter, which involves my private life. Please direct your attention to 'Concrete Utopia'."
Park Seo Joon clearly distinguished between his personal and professional life, reflecting the current trend among celebrities when it comes to addressing dating rumors.
Previously, BTS's V and BLACKPINK's Jennie were also caught up in dating rumors when photographs of them enjoying a vacation on Jeju Island circulated online last year. Since then, numerous photos and videos have emerged, featuring the two idols together.
However, with this new shift in strategy, agencies representing these idols have reacted by maintaining a respectful distance, asserting that they are incapable of confirming or denying these allegations as they involve the personal and private lives of their artists.
They only give this sort of "It's none of our business" response when it's true, which essentially makes it the same as a confirmation these days. Not the greatest of strategies.
