On June 22, Goo Hye Sun took to her social media to share a photo of herself wearing glasses. She also included a picture of a textbook titled 'Principles of Economics (Microeconomics)' which could be seen resting on her desk. Goo Hye Sun revealed that she had enrolled in an economics fundamentals class to enhance her understanding of the subject.
She expressed anxiety as she had an upcoming TOEIC test over the weekend and a final exam the following week. The pressure was weighing heavily on her, amplifying her worries.
Expressing her heartfelt sentiments, Goo Hye Sun conveyed her sadness upon delivering news of her conflict with her former agency HB Entertainment. She admitted feeling exhausted and preoccupied with problems that couldn't be instantly resolved.
She shared, "Even though everyone is working hard to overcome difficult times, I am saddened to deliver the news of conflict. I am exhausted and sometimes get distracted by problems that cannot be resolved immediately. But thanks to my fellow classmates who care for me, giving me jelly and energy drinks, and all the support from the warm messages of consolation from professors, I realize this is not a time of difficulty but a grateful time."
Previously, Goo Hye Sun had filed a lawsuit against HB Entertainment, her former exclusive contract agency, demanding payment of 107 million KRW. This sum included fees for her appearances on YouTube content and profits generated from her YouTube videos. However, she ultimately lost the legal battle.
The dispute between Goo Hye Sun and HB Entertainment originated in 2019, following her breakup with her ex-husband Ahn Jae Hyun. At the time, Goo Hye Sun claimed that HB Entertainment had primarily prioritized her ex-husband in their work arrangements. In August 2019, she officially terminated her exclusive contract with the agency.
However, in April of the subsequent year, the Korea Commercial Arbitration Board ruled that Goo Hye Sun had to pay HB Entertainment 35 million KRW in damages for breaching her exclusive contract. Goo Hye Sun complied with the ruling and paid the corresponding amount to HB Entertainment.
Nevertheless, she continued to demand payment from the agency for her appearances on YouTube content and the associated revenue. Unfortunately, the court dismissed Goo Hye-sun's lawsuit, prompting her to claim she will file an appeal.
In response, HB Entertainment stated, "HB Entertainment is suffering serious property damage and mental anguish to our employees and artists due to the continuing legal response related to the disputes and lawsuits related to Goo Hye Sun's exclusive contract, which are based on false claims made over the years."
