Song Ji Hyo provides financial aid to former agency employees facing unpaid wages

Song Ji Hyo generously offered financial support to former employees of her previous agency, Uzurocks, who are struggling with unpaid wages. On May 17, Dispatch reported exclusively on the hardships faced by these employees.

The report revealed that the six employees at Uzurocks were mostly in their 20s and 30s, and many were new to the workforce. Their average annual salary was 27 million KRW (20,208 USD). In February, they received a notice for failing to pay national pension contributions at the workplace. Moreover, their salaries were delayed for several months.

Uzurocks had an unconventional management system where the manager initially uses their personal card for expenses and later bills the company. However, the managers were not reimbursed.

One employee, A, mentioned she had to go to her parents for financial support while depleting her savings account to cover living expenses. Other employees also shared their frustration of becoming credit defaulters and having their cards blocked.

When Song Ji Hyo learned about this situation, she handed her card to her managers, paid medical bills for an ailing employee, and even stayed up late discussing the matter. Employee B expressed gratitude, stating that Song Ji Hyo's intervention provided much-needed relief. Some of the overdue salary issues were resolved thanks to Song Ji Hyo's direct involvement. However, outstanding payments for April and March remain unresolved.

In the meantime, Song Ji Hyo herself has not received any payment since signing an exclusive contract with Uzurocks in October 2022. As reported by Dispatch, the unsettled amount is approximately 900 million KRW (673,610 USD). Last month, she terminated her contract with Uzurocks and filed a lawsuit to claim her unpaid dues.

Regarding her decision to support the employees, Song Ji Hyo expressed, "I can manage without that money for now. However, the employees are the ones facing financial difficulties, with blocked cards and disconnected phones. Even a small amount like 10,000 KRW (7.48 USD) can make a significant difference in their lives."

In related news, it was also reported that Ji Suk Jin paid living wages to several Uzurocks employees out of pocket.
