JUST B is a six-piece boy band under Bluedot Entertainment, consisting of members DY, Sangwoo, Bain, Jimin, Geonu, and JM. The sextet recently came back with a new single titled "Camellia."

In light of their consistent growth with each album since their debut in 2021, JUST B has announced the release of a pre-release digital single, following their first collaboration album, 'JUST Be with you Part.1,' in February 2023.

A moving ballad that gives warmth and comfort to a desolate world, "Camellia," written by DY with raps penned by Sangwoo, is a perfect blend of piano melodies and guitar tones that provide calming comfort. JUST B tells their own tale of hope in "Camellia," giving consolation to those in need.

In their pre-release digital single, JUST B, who is renowned for expressing various ideas and exhibiting empathy in their previous albums, aims to spread warmth by telling their own story.

To commemorate their latest single, JUST B sat down with allkpop to discuss their new single, the recording process, musicians they'd like to collaborate with, and more. Keep reading to learn more about the band!

allkpop: First and foremost, congratulations on releasing your new digital single "Camellia"! Please tell us more about the song and the message you hope to convey with it.

DY: I worked on our pre-release single “Camellia” with the heart that it would be nice to take this opportunity to share warm affection in a world that seems cold and I felt that it lacks warmth.

allkpop: "Camellia" was written by member DY, with Sangwoo also contributing words to the rap. How did things go on the track? Could you please explain the creative process to us?

DY: I think it was before I was going to eat. The chord, melody, and lyrics all popped up in my head at once. So, I remember I quickly worked on it for about 5 minutes, recorded for about 20 minutes, and let the members hear it.

Sangwoo: For me, DY let me hear this good song and he suggested first that I write verse 2. This song is special to DY so if he was not satisfied, of course, he would not use it

DY: Yes, I was not going to use it [if I didn’t like it].

Sangwoo: But fortunately, he liked it and I had the opportunity to write [the lyrics].

DY: I was a little worried but he wrote the lyrics much better than I expected and I really liked it.

allkpop: Are there any other members who are interested in participating in writing or producing a track for JUST B in the future?

Jimin: Yes, all of our members are diligently practicing songwriting and composing to tell our story to many people, so I hope everyone will look forward to it.

allkpop: This song tries to provide listeners with a beam of hope and comfort in the midst of reality's gloom and problems. Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans, or to people in general, who are going through tough times right now?

Bain: Yes, I really hope that many people are able to receive the warm message and warm hearts through JUST B. We released a warm song “Camellia” this time. I hope that everyone will get some comfort while listening to this song.

JUST B: Just do it!

allkpop: The name "Camellia" refers to a flower! They are lovely evergreen flowers. Why did you choose the name "Camellia" for the song? Is there any other meaning to the song?

DY: Oh yes, Camellia is a winter flower. So, we decided on the title “Camellia” because we wanted to convey the message that “flowers bloom even in the cold and frosty ground” and “hope blooms even in the bleak reality.”

allkpop: Prior to this release, you collaborated with AleXa for "JUST Be with you Pt.1." Why did you think AleXa was the perfect choice for this collaboration single, and what was it working with her like?

Geonu: Yes, we were always thinking that we wanted to collaborate with AleXa after seeing her performances on music programs and she is good at performing and has great skills. We were given a good opportunity and were able to collaborate with her.

allkpop: Speaking of collaborations, do you have anyone in mind, in or out of K-Pop, with whom you would like to work in the future?

Geonu: This was our first collaboration but we were able to collaborate comfortably and it was fun during the collaboration process.

DY: I personally like Japanese musicians so I want to personally work with Vaundy or the band called ONE OK ROCK.

Bain: We like the group Why Don’t We a lot. Why Don’t We is a Pop boy band. As much as we are a K-pop boy band, I think it would be perfect if two boy bands meet and collaborate.

Jimin: We look forward to it.

Bain: If we are given the chance, we would like to collaborate with a lot of amazing artists.

allkpop: JUST B debuted in 2021, it's been 2 years - time flies so fast! How has your journey/experience been in the industry so far?

JM: We did a lot of things for the past year. We released an album and had a concert. And because we have ONLY Bs (JUST B's fandom name), we were able to go overseas to perform and experience many things.

Jimin: That’s right. We were able to experience a lot thanks to ONLY B. We love you.

allkpop: For you, who is JUST B?

DY: The 6 members of JUST B all have strong individual colors. And we are a team that has amazing teamwork when these 6 members gather together.

Geonu: We all have different MBTI personalities. As much as our MBTI personalities are different, we are a group that is able to show dynamic chemistry.

allkpop: Is there anything else we should expect from you in the near future? Perhaps a comeback?

Jimin: We pre-released the track “Camellia”. What does pre-release mean? It’s a prelude for the next comeback. We are diligently preparing really good songs so please look forward to it a lot.
