SHINee's Taemin returned to fans after being discharged from mandatory military service on April 4.
As soon as he was discharged, he logged onto Instagram Live to greet fans and meet them through a live-streaming session. In the video, Taemin began by saying, "Hello everyone. I came to meet you all for the first time in a while. I'm excited and I wanted to meet everyone fast and talk to you so I came right away."
Taemin garnered much attention as he immediately turned on Instagram Live to greet fans on the day he was discharged from the military. In particular, Taemin gained attention as he was looking healthier after gaining about 10 kgs (22 lbs) during his enlistment.
Back in 2021, Taemin revealed that he had gained 10 kgs. Taemin shared that he was able to take the time to look back at himself during the mandatory military. He explained, "I looked back at the brilliant time I spent with the fans and reminisced at myself thinking I lived a full life."
During the broadcasting, Taemin also shared, "I wanted to look different so I even dyed my hair for the first time in 2 years."
Meanwhile, Taemin enlisted in the military band of the Ministry of National Defense Service Support Group on May 31, 2021. However, his symptoms of depression and panic disorder worsened, and he was transferred to serve as a public service worker on January 14 of the following year. He completed his duty as a service worker on April 4 and was discharged from service.
After a long break, Taemin will hold his '2023 Taemin Fan Meeting' RE: ACT' at the Hall of Peace at Kyunghee University in Seoul on the 22nd and 23rd of April. There will be two sessions, one at 2:00 pm and the other at 6:00 pm, during which he will meet his fans.
