MBC's 'King of Masked Singer' received backlash after Clazziquai's Horan made an appearance despite her three previous DUI charges.

Following the controversy, MBC's production team for the entertainment show posted an apology.

On the April 9 KST broadcast of MBC's music variety program 'King of Masked Singer,' one masked singer's identity was revealed to be none other than Clazziquai's vocalist Horan. The production team introduced the singer as being "A beloved vocalist with a charming voice," and "Vocal queen" and welcomed the singer back on stage.

Horan also greeted viewers by saying, "I'm going to release a new single soon, so please listen to it a lot. I will see you all soon at my concert." Nevertheless, netizens and viewers have turned a cold shoulder to the singer and criticized MBC for allowing a celebrity with three previous DUI charges to appear on their network.

Horan was caught driving drunk three times in 2004, 2007, and 2016. Horan even crashed into a Seongdong-gu Office vehicle that was stopped on a three-lane road at the southern end of Seongsu Bridge in Seoul while driving after drinking alcohol in September 2016. In this accident, the sanitation worker who was in the vehicle was injured.

Netizens left comments expressing their discomfort about Horan's appearance on the  'King of Masked Singer' viewer bulletin board. They commented, "There are so many other artists, what is MBC's intention for allowing Horan to appear?" "Even if she is skilled, this is not the right time," "I was so taken aback while watching TV," and "She has three DUIs."

This ultimately led 'King of Masked Singer' to post an apology. The production team posted, "We apologize for causing discomfort to the viewers. We were unable to meet the expectation of our viewers due to the wrong judgment of the production team. We will self-reflect after seeing the criticism."

MBC's 'King of Masked Singer' production team has deleted Horan's segment from various OTT viewing platforms.
