Getting a concert ticket to one of the biggest K-pop acts might be as hard as winning the lottery. It is especially more challenging to get tickets to a BTS or a BLACKPINK concert.
BLACKPINK started their 'BORN PINK' world tour last year, and they are traveling all over the world with performances of their hit songs. Next week, BLACKPINK will be heading to Taiwan for two shows in Kaoshiung on March 18 and March 19.
Fans quickly lined up to get their hands on the tickets to the show, but the tickets to BLACKPINK's Kaohsiung shows sold out within minutes. The original prices of the tickets were from 2,300 New Taiwan Dollars (~74.78 USD) to 8,800 NTD (~286.12 USD).
But after the tickets were sold out immediately, scalpers began putting tickets on sale for as high as 400,000 NTD (~$13,000 USD).
With scalper ticket prices skyrocketing, the Taiwanese Ministry of Culture has announced it will be taking measures against these scalpers and will punish them. According to the Korea Times, the Taiwanese Ministry of Culture stated, "We already held several meetings to tackle this issue."
Additionally, the hotels around Kaoshiung have also raised prices considerably as well in anticipation of the two-night concert.
