It has been revealed that BLACKPINK member Rose's photo was used in a Chinese drama as a sex worker's photo without permission. After much backlash, the Chinese drama production team apologized.
The drama 'Justice in the Dark' received much backlash when Rose's photo was spotted in a scene. In the scene, a police officer goes undercover to investigate a case and enters a hotel to request sexual services. The staff of the hotel hands him a catalog of women. There, a photo was spotted by BLACKPINK fans that looked very similar to the one of Rose.
BLACKPINK fans immediately recognized the photo that was used and pointed out that the pose, background, and even the outfit of the girl in the drama were identical to Rose's photo.
With the controversy growing, the production deleted the scene from the drama without explanation. This brought about more anger as fans accused the drama of trying to ignore the issue and pretend it never happened.
Due to rising anger, the production team decided to issue an apology through the Chinese social media platform Weibo.
The production company stated, "Due to our team's neglect in the work, we used Rose's photos carelessly. This act adversely affected Rose's image and reputation. We would like to sincerely apologize to rose and her fans, the broadcasting platform, and the viewers."
