BTS has finally released "BTS MEMORIES OF 2021," which consists of a DVD and photobook with never-before-seen content from their events from last year. 2021 will undoubtedly be remembered for their two global hit songs 'Butter' and 'Permission to Dance.'
The photobook served as a trip down memory lane to Kim Taehyung's most memorable events and performances from 2021. New pictures captured V's gorgeous visuals, captivating facial expressions, and numerous stylish outfits that defined their respective eras.
"BUTTER"
With lyrics like "Smooth like butter, Like a criminal undercover," BTS's first hit single of 2021 was a clear homage to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
Taehyung kicked off the 'Butter' era with a bang after his concept teaser created such a huge buzz and earned him a special shout-out from Russian hat designer Ruslan Baginsky for his massive brand power in selling out their hat.
"PERMISSION TO DANCE"
Their second hit single of 2021 was a fun track with an equally cheerful music video. 'Permission to Dance' was a heartwarming message of hope and positivity that brought people comfort amidst the COVID pandemic.
Taehyung embraced the song's theme wholeheartedly and showed a more bubbly side of himself, in contrast to the cool, serious vibe he went for in 'Butter.'
"PERFORMANCES"
Both English hit songs were performed at many prestigious award shows, including the 'Billboard Music Awards,' the '2021 GRAMMY Awards Show,' and the '2021 The Fact Music Awards.' BTS also became the first K-pop group to guest with notable performances at popular Western shows like 'BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge' and 'James Corden's Crosswalk Concert.'
Throughout these performances, Taehyung showcased why he is praised as the 'Stage Genius' with his skills in singing and dancing, along with his powerful stage presence that oozes charisma and makes the audience go wild.
"DANCE PRACTICE AND REHEARSALS"
The photo book also included new images of Taehyung hard at work polishing his dance moves during their rehearsals. Dressed in casual clothes and sweatpants with his bare face on display, Taehyung proved he looked just as attractive without getting dolled up.
"NON-MUSIC CONTENT"
BTS aren't just musicians but also entertainers, and many photoshoots were done for their non-music content and projects. They also had their first full-length domestic TV variety appearance at 'You Quiz on the Block.'
Taehyung showed off his wide range in digesting different concepts, from the prince-like fantasy concept of the '2022 Season's Greetings' to the superhero sci-fi concept of the '7FATES: CHAKHO' webtoon.
