Actor/ director Koo Kyo Hwan has decided to donate all the sales profit from the special book he had released with his girlfriend, Lee Ok Seop. The special book he released had quickly become sold out shortly after the release.
The Pyeongchang International Peace Film Festival has selected director Lee Ok Seop and Koo Kyo Hwan as the first individuals for the 'Close-Up' category, which was created to discover unique and talented directors in 2020. Thereafter, special books and merchandise were created based on these two talented directors.
In particular, the special book, which is a collection of interviews and pictorials of the two directors, was completely sold out online after the film festival. Because there were so many inquiries about the special book, the film festival decided to print a second batch of the special book.
The re-printed special book was quickly sold out in a short time as it was sold at the official online smart store of the film festival last year, proving the popularity of the two individuals.
According to director Lee Ok Seop and Koo Kyo Hwan, the film festival donated the proceeds from the sales to Ajine Village, an abandoned animal shelter. In fact, director Lee Ok Seop and Koo Kyo Hwan have actually portrayed animal rights metaphorically in several of their works.
Director Park Jeong Soo of Ajine Village stated, "I am grateful to the film festival and to director Lee Ok Seop and Koo Kyo Want for making a warm donation to our shelter despite the difficult times and circumstances of the COVID19. We will use it meaningfully for the animals that have been abandoned."
Koo Kyo Hwan and Lee Ok Seop is a well-known duo in the film industry. The two have been dating each other for nine years and have created various works together, sharing their unique ideologies about art and film. In particular, Koo Kyo Hwan has garnered more public recognition for his exceptional acting skills in various works such as the film 'Peninsula' and the drama 'D.P.'
