According to media outlet reports on February 3, KBS1 drama 'The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won' will not be airing for its third consecutive week, after becoming wrapped up in an animal abuse controversy.
Previously, after issuing an official apology for causing the death of a horse enlisted for help on the filming set, the production staff of 'The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won' announced that the drama would take a break from airing for 2 weeks, from January 22-23, and from January 29-30.
According to the latest updates, the series will also be put on hold for its third consecutive week this week from February 5-6. Furthermore, all filming for the drama has been cancelled until further notice, as production methods and regulations are undergoing "thorough inspections". So far, the production crew members have not been notified on when filming will resume.
Meanwhile, 'The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won' is a classic historical drama series depicting the life of King Taejong of Joseon, played by actor Joo Sang Wook.
I was upset when they canceled the Joseon Exorcist show over the alternate history/creative liberties taken by the writers and show runners. But this....this is an issue of animal welfare, and in 2022, it is appalling to see something like this still happening. If it gets scrapped for good, then no one will shed a tear.
