SM Entertainment reports they sold more than 17 million copies of albums last year

SM Entertainment reported their total album sales exceeded 17 million copies in 2021.

On January 10th KST, SM Entertainment announced they have sold more than 17.62 million copies of albums in 2021. 

According to their official report, the company released 25 different albums which recorded 15.043 million copies in sales. With the previously released album sales of 2.578 million copies, the company recorded 17.62 million copies in sales as of December 31st, 2021. 

This record is almost twice as large as that of the year 2020, showing SM Entertainment and their artists' content creating power. 


NCT, EXO, and Baekhyun's albums won the million-seller titles and all 25 albums under the label were ranked on Gaon's annual top 100 albums chart.

They have a lot of artists and groups, and out of the 17 million albums sold, over 10 million of that was NCT and its subunits! NCT Dream, WayV, NCT 127, and NCT 2021 all sold a bunch of albums! They are definitely getting super popular right now, and I hope SM gives them more opportunities to shine this year! Let Taeyong create more choreography like he did for "Zoo", and let Kun compose some of his own songs, perhaps even release his own mini album!
