Just three days ago, Netflix revealed another official trailer of 'The Silent Sea,' revealing more details of the drama. With this new trailer, many netizens are highly anticipating the first Sci-Fi (SF) drama in South Korea.
On December 9, Netflix uploaded the official trailer for 'The Silent Sea,' which will be premiering on December 24. The trailer released on this day revealed a more detailed story of the upcoming drama.
'Sea of Silence' depicts a situation where essential resources, including water, are depleted as the earth becomes desolated. The Republic of Korea Space Agency sends an elite crew to an abandoned research base on the moon to find the answer to human survival.
In the drama, astrobiologist Song Ji An (played by Bae Doo Na), exploration captain Han Yun Jae (played by Gong Yoo), chief engineer Ryu Tae Seok (played by Lee Jun), team doctor Hong Dak (played by Kim Seon Young), security team leader Gong Su Hyeok (played Lee Moo Saeng), and spacecraft pilot Kim Sun (Played by Lee Seong Wook) and other elite crew members head to the lunar base, Balhae.
After arriving at the Balhae base, the elite team discovers corpses of unknown causes and unidentified biosignals. Song Ji An distrusts even the government's announcement and has doubts about the secret of the Balhae base.
The netizens who saw the clip through Naver TV commented, "I can't believe our country is making a drama in this genre," "This is so awesome," "CG quality is so good," "This drama is going to sweep up the awards at the year-end," and "I can't believe this is a trailer for a Korean drama."
Netizens on YouTube also commented, "The casting is so crazy," "I'm amazed that Korea is able to make content in this genre," "the era in which we can watch Sci-Fi content made by South Korea has come, I'm so happy," and "I'm looking forward to this SF thriller being stuck in space and being chased by aliens."
How is this considered the first sci-fi drama? They have had plenty of robotic dramas and AI dramas. This might be their first space drama maybe, but definitely not sci-fi
