It's been only a week since the release of Jin's solo OST "Yours." However, he has already proved himself as a mega-successful artist, breaking many records despite having no marketing by his agency.
One of the biggest Worldwide magazines and media, Forbes made multiple articles praising "Yours" as a smashing-hit and Jin as the record-breaking artist. It highlights that Jin made historically significant records in music, without the help of his group, as an influential solo artist.
"BTS member Jin is slated to debut at No. 2 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart with his recently released single “Yours.” The tune will open in the runner-up rung with just under 13,200 copies sold, according to information shared by MRC Data. The K-pop superstar comes in behind only Adele’s “Easy on Me,” which will return to the throne for another turn in the spotlight. “Yours” misses out on besting “Easy on Me” by fewer than 1,500 copies."
With only 4 tracking days, Jin becomes just the 4th solo South Korean musician to place a song inside the top two on the Digital Song Sales chart.
Forbes also reported about Jin becoming the First Korean Male soloist to enter the Billboard Global 200 chart.
"Near the top of the Billboard Global 200 this week, powerful musicians like Post Malone, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Travis Scott and Summer Walker all debut new singles, instantly scoring notable wins on the ranking of the most-consumed songs in the world. A little further down, a member of the biggest band on the planet right now lands not just his first hit, but a boundary-breaking smash that proves him to be a superstar in his own right."
BTS Member Jin Scores His First Solo No. 1 Hit In America
With "Yours," Jin made the biggest Korean OST debut on Spotify and became the singer of the most successful Korean OST in the USA, as it demonstrated an incredible performance on the chart despite having only a half of the tracking week:
#1 on World Digital Song Sales #2 on Digital Song Sales #4 on Emerging Artist #12 on Bubbling Under Hot 100 #67 on Global 200 Excl. US #90 on Global 200 #97 on Artist 100
It holds the record for the highest debut sales for a Korean OST in the USA, the highest-charting song by a Korean soloist in 2021, tied with the highest-debuting track by a Korean soloist in history. It became the first Korean OST in history to enter the Bubbling under Hot100 chart, 2nd highest charting debut by a BTS member on Emerging Artist chart, first male K-soloist to enter the Global 200 chart, and the Top100 of Global 200 Excluding The US. Forbes especially mentioned that these records are significant for Jin as an artist outside BTS.
"The song is credited only to him, and as it launches as high as a cut can climb on the purchase-only tally, it instantly becomes his first champion on any Billboard ranking in America."
BTS’s Jin Is The First Solo Male Korean Artist To Hit Billboard’s Global Chart
While achieving all of that, Jin remains one of the members of the global group BTS who haven't made their solo debut yet, as Forbes mentions, however with the immense success Jin performed with an OST, it's safe to say that the fans of his vocal talent are highly anticipating the solo debut.
