K-pop band DAY6 expressed their thoughts on the preconceptions they receive for being an 'idol' band.
On the July 9th broadcast of KBS 2TV's 'Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook', DAY6 performed some songs from their second mini-album 'Right Through Me' and sat down to discuss their thoughts.
On this day, MC Yoo Hee Yeol asked them, "Are there any preconceptions made about you for being an idol band?" To this, member Young K responded, "I have been asked many times whether I was an idol, a band, or a musician, but this was always an ambiguous topic. I constantly thought about this while working all these years, but the literal meaning of 'idol' is 'a godly figure'. I think our 'idol' is Coldplay. They can also be an 'idol' and a 'godly figure'. We also want to do our best and create our own music."
When asked how many songs they have registered with the Music Copyright Association, Young K surprised everyone by revealing that he has 139 songs credited under his name, and member Wonpil has 99 songs credited under his name..
Either way you slice it, they are an asset to K-Pop! Singers; no backtrack needed. Real musician who play their own instruments. Songwriters who particpate in the comp. of their lyrics and music..and their songs actually sound good too! Everbody shouldn't sing and dance. Somebody has to do something different.
