10,000 North Korean students turned themselves in for watching South Korean dramas and movies.

According to recent reports, thousands of North Korean students turned themselves in for watching prohibited content. As viewing South Korean dramas, movies, photos, and books is a serious offense in North Korea, it's reported the students hoped to lighten their punishment by admitting guilt instead of being caught, which could result in up to 15 years in jail.

Around 5000 DVD players were reportedly turned in, and the students reported themselves to the Society Safety Center or Police Stations to receive a lighter sentence.

In related news, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has started harsher restrictions on casual dress among North Korean youth.
