An American rapper has found fame in South Korea after his cover version of a Korean rap song went viral.
The rapper, who only goes by the name “Logan”, covered a segment from 119 Remix, ― a 20-minute rap marathon by 51 hip-hop artists originally released in December 2018 by the AOMG hip-hop label headed by Korean rapper Jay Park.
In his one-minute video, titled “119 Remix (Prod GRAY) American’s verse cover by Logan”, the American raps in English and Korean. He said on YouTube he “recorded the rap in one take and knows there might be a few problems (with diction)”.
But many commentators praised Logan’s Korean diction. One said he “felt like he was eating a hamburger and kimchi at the same time”.
One fan said: “I have been watching YouTube for the last three years and I know who’s got what it takes to become a star.
“I have rarely seen foreigners rapping in Korean … if you keep pushing hard you will fly high.”
That was pretty nice, sometimes it can be cringy when Western K-pop fans do covers but that was legit good.
