It seems that due to various, speculative news reports regarding 2PM member Jun.K currently carrying out his basic military training in his army base, the idol has become a target to malicious comments and rumors.
Back on June 7, it was reported that Jun.K seemed to be suffering from paralysis symptoms in the right side of his chin. However, a day later, his label JYP Entertainment clarified that the idol suffered from pain in his shoulder, not his chin.
Despite JYP Entertainment's statement, other media outlets continued to publish articles claiming that Jun.K received cosmetic surgery in his chin back in April, during a time frame when he was taking time to reflect after being charged with a DUI. Many netizens noted that the news outlets may have reported false information regarding Jun.K suffering pain in his chin, in order to simply exploit his most recent cosmetic surgery records.
When the issue became a hot topic online, a staff sergeant from Jun.K's basic military training division spoke up to defend the idol, as well as to assure fans of 2PM. The staff sergeant, Kim, said:
"...Thank you for not trusting those malicious news articles and for disagreeing with them, fans of Jun.K, training soldier Kim Min Jun. It is very empowering to see so many people aiding [Jun.K], as an individual working in education. Thank you very much.
I would like to elaborate on the current situation, but I cannot write about the topic in detail. However, I am incredibly thankful that you are concerned about training soldier Kim Min Jun, and I was able to feel pride knowing that I trained such an honorable figure.
Training soldier Kim Min Jun, who worked very hard as the leader of his platoon and passionately asked questions during training sessions, is doing very well here. In order to prove that I am not posting falsely, I am uploading proof of whom I am.
He is doing so well, in fact, that you won't have to worry. Hehe he gets along well with his fellow soldiers, and he did his very best as the leader of his platoon."
Regarding Jun.K's situations, netizens' comments online included, "The news sites totally aimed for this", "Why can't he get plastic surgery while he's on hiatus... it's his face...", "The person himself is in the military doing just fine, so why are these reporters coming for him?", "I don't think getting plastic surgery before you go to the military is against the law, dumb reporters", etc.
