PRISTIN V – LIKE A V
Track List:
1. Get It *Title
2. Spotlight
The subunit PRISTIN V just dropped their first single "Like a V." V stands for a number of things, like the roman numeral 5, and villain, according to the band, each girl embodying a different kind of villain. But no matter. These gals are killing the online charts, and the single has two songs for your listening pleasure.

"Get It" is drowned in electronic effects, and unveils a cornucopia of sounds even before we hit the main verses. It's a different song for PRISTIN, as the girls sound more controlled and subdued, seductive even. A serious departure from their earlier, hooky title tracks.
"Spotlight" gives you some tropical house vibes, but I like what they do with it. PRISTIN has some gifted vocalists, and in particular, they seem to have hit this subunit. It even changes tempo around 1:30, and I just love the galloping beat they change to. This is smooth, seductive, and overall a sweet jam.
This is quite a departure in sound for PRISTIN. As a subunit, PRISTIN V just kills it. I like the smoothness they convey, and I get some Red Velvet/BoA feels when I listen. While sounding similar, they're also original enough to stand out. Do I like it? You bet.
MV REVIEW
If you asked me what was going on here, I'd have two answers for you: not a lot, and a whole lot. On the surface the MV has two themes, the girls sitting, and the girls dancing. Sometimes it's one, two, or three girls at a time, and sometimes it's all of them.
However, most of the video is stylized and sexy, to match the mood of the tune. There's as much languishing and stretching as there is dancing and sitting. The costumes are revealing (of course), the better to show obvious the obvious charms of this subunit. There are slo-mo shots galore.
The dancing is really the main focus, and the choreographer needs a promotion (or at least a raise). These girls dance quite well, with elbows and knees and body-twisting in just about every dance sequence. The moves are nicely done, and there's enough variety in the sets to make things interesting.
For not that much going on, it sure was a fun ride.
