According to an exclusive report by OSEN on November 24, the media outlet states that they have discovered that YG Entertainment will begin a full-scale production for a girl group after carefully selecting them from 50 trainees. There are industry insiders who believe that YG might launch both the boy group and girl group at the same time.
YG last launched a new girl group back in 2016 with Black Pink. They quickly topped the charts immediately after their debut and they will have their own program 'Black Pink TV' which will be airing soon. According to the insider, the new girl group will have a totally different concept from Black Pink. It is quite unusual for YG to debut a boy group and a girl group at the same time.
There has been a lot of attention on Bang Ye Dam after his recent appearance on 'Stray Kids'. He first came into the public consciousness after his superb performances on 'K Pop Star 2' and he once again showed off his talents during the YG vs JYP battle on 'Stray Kids'.
YG has been very successful with their girl groups as both 2NE1 and Black Pink have shown their great skills and fresh concepts. 2NE1 was one of the legendary groups in K-pop while Black Pink is both skilled and beautiful and they have established a big following overseas.
In relation to the news of a potential new girl, a YG official responded to OSEN's request with, "Yang Hyun Suk is doing a secret process, we do not know the details or exact schedule."
