On October 2, various media outlets reported that the Chuseok special of the annual show has ultimately decided on cancellation. The reason is due to the ongoing general strike against MBC. 

Not just 'Idol Star Athletics Championship' but all the other Chuseok specials will not be airing on MBC this year. Dramas and movies will be airing throughout the holiday instead.

The broadcast date of new MBC drama, '20th Boy and Girl', has also been delayed. Originally, the new production was scheduled to start airing on September 25 following the end of 'The King Loves'. However, it'll now be airing on October 9. 

This is the first time in 7 years 'Idol Star Athletics Championship' has been canceled. The ongoing general strike against MBC is expected to continue causing delays and cancellations of its shows and dramas.
