A 70-year-old man was arrested in New York's LaGuardia Airport because he made a bomb threat.
According to the Daily News New York, John Park was checking in to his flight bound for Michigan at around 7AM EST in the Spirit Airlines counter. He refused to pay the 50 USD checking bag fee, got into an argument with the ticket agent, and left in anger. When told he couldn't leave it at the counter, he told the agent that there was a bomb inside.
As no surprise to anyone (except perhaps the man himself), he was arrested and the NYPD Bomb Squad was called to check the bag. There was no bomb inside, but because of his threat, flights were diverted from the terminal, and the screening checkpoints and pre-security areas were closed and evacuated for two hours.
Charges against Mr. Park are still pending.
