Actress Ryu Hyun Kyung revealed she went the extra mile for the upcoming MBC drama '20th Century Boy and Girl'.
At the press conference for '20th Century Boy and Girl' on September 29, Ryu Hyun Kyung expressed how much she wanted to play the role of Han Ah Reum, a flight attendant who's constantly on a diet. The actress discussed her intentional weight gain of a little over 33lbs (15kg), saying, "My face didn't gain much weight, so people said they didn't really notice. If you see me onscreen though, you'll see I've gained weight."
She continued, "After I started putting on the pounds, I'm experiencing pain in my hips and ankles. To gain weight, I ate 1 pizza every day, and I suffered indigestion. That's how much I wanted to be in this drama."
'20th Century Boy and Girl' tells the story of three women in their thirties as they navigate their career, friendships, dating, and family life. It's set to premiere on October 9.
